Our RINGFEDER® Shrink Discs create completely backlash-free external force-fit clamping connections. By axially tightening the tapered pressure rings, pressure is applied externally to the hub or hollow shaft, thereby creating a secure friction-locked connection between shaft and hub. The shrink disc itself is not located in the load path; torque and bending moments as well as axial and radial loads are transmitted directly at the joining surface without any intermediate element. Keys, wedges or other form-fit connecting elements are not required, thereby avoiding notch effects and achieving outstanding fatigue strength under alternating torsional loads as well as excellent concentricity characteristics. Installation and removal are performed using standard tools, without thermal joining or fitting work. Typical applications include shaft-mounted gearboxes as well as gear wheels, sprockets, belt, brake and rope pulleys, flywheels, couplings, flanges and impellers in gearbox manufacturing, material handling, mining, and the steel and cement industries. Our standard portfolio covers shaft diameters from 6 to 800 millimeters and comprises two- and three-part series as well as corrosion-resistant stainless steel versions for different installation, environmental and performance requirements. Application-specific custom solutions complement the portfolio. When correctly designed, they provide wear- and maintenance-free connections for static, dynamic and shock loads.
