Grinding mills used in the field of wood processing for example produce high-quality fibres for MDF, HDF and insulation panels. By request of and in close cooperation with a renowned plant manufacturer, RINGFEDER® has designed a special gear coupling of the TNZ series, which meets specific requirements of the application: The coupling implements maximum torque transmissions between the grinder and the driving motor and furthermore provides for axial offset compensation, which is indispensable due to the axial adjustability of the grinder. Moreover, the flexible coupling solution is characterised by an exactly defined torsional flexibility preventing excess or early wear or failure of the grinding plant, which would otherwise cause increased costs for the user.
Wood crushers separate logs into strands parallel to the fibre direction, which can then be processed for various purposes. For the most part, the preferred feed material in the form of round timber is transported directly to the loading unit by means of a crane, and from there it is fed cyclically to the machining area of the crusher. For this application, which involves huge dynamic loads, RINGFEDER® has implemented a comprehensive, extremely robust and maintenance-friendly coupling solution: Two powerful motors actuate the crushing roll via a gearbox stage, using an elastic jaw coupling of the RINGFEDER® TNM series in multi-piece design to implement the optimum connection of the gearbox and motor. At the output end, an elastomer coupling of the RINGFEDER® TNB series with an integrated brake disc for a safety-relevant holding brake is applied. These coupling types are provided with the required characteristics for compensating misalignments and with damping properties and, for maintenance work, they make it possible to replace the intermediate rings and buffers without complex axial shifting of the plant elements connected.
